Asymptomatic Cases: Carriers of the Virus

An asymptomatic laboratory-confirmed case is a person who is infected with COVID-19 but does not show any symptoms. Although it is too early to estimate the asymptomatic proportions in the world’s population, it is estimated that 1 in 4 COVID-19 positive individuals may be displaying asymptomatic; these people are carriers and are likely contributing to the rapid spread of the virus.
