Hand Wash

Wondering if a simple hand washing can kill all the viruses?

Well yes! Here’s the good news that washing hands, even with plain water and soap can kill all the viruses, provided it is done thoroughly and properly.  How can soap be enough?  Because virus is a self-assembled nanoparticle in which the weakest link is the lipid (fatty) bilayer.

Soap dissolves the fat membrane, and the virus falls apart like a house of cards and “dies,” or rather, it becomes inactive as viruses aren’t really alive. However, it is important to know that this dissolution of the lipid layer takes a minimum of 20 seconds, the time needed to sing a Happy Birthday Chorus for example.
