Use of Masks

According to recent studies, masks have been recommended by health professionals to be worn by public to help prevent the spread of the virus. However, if you are not generally caring for a sick individual a surgical or cloth mask (Single-use) would suffice. The notorious N95 masks is recommended for health professionals only who have direct contact with those infected.

  • Clean your hands with an alcohol-based hand wash or soap and water before putting on a mask.
  • Cover your mouth and nose with mask and make sure there are no gaps between your face and the mask.
  • Avoid touching the mask while using it; if you do, clean your hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
  • Replace the mask with a new one as soon as it is damp and do not re-use single-use masks.
  • To remove the mask: remove it from behind the ear (do not touch the front of the mask); discard immediately in a closed bin; clean hands with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water.
